In Light of Muslim and non-Muslim Societies ملف صوتى : حقوق المرأة -
علي ضوء الاجتماعات الاسلامية و غير الاسلامية
Al ‘Alaamah Saaleh al Fawzaan الشيخ العلامة صالح الفوزان
The second part of a sermon delivered by the noble Scholar, Shaykh Saaleh al Fawzaan, a member of the Counsel of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia and one of the highest ranking figures in Islaam today.
The sermon tackles the status of women in Islaam compared to their status during the pre-Islaamic era.
Following the sermon are some facts gathered concerning women's rights in non-Muslim societies as well as other religions compared to the rights that Allaah, the Elevated, granted Muslim women in Islaam fourteen centuries ago.
Excerpts from the tape:
'Umar ibn al Khataab said:
"Islaam will be stripped away, piece by piece, when people who do not know the pre-Islaamic era are brought up in Islaam."
This seems to be the case concerning the issue of women [in Islaam].
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Women during the pre-Islaamic period would not receive a portion of inheritance, even if a woman had a wealthy relative and she herself were poor…Islaam came with justice and fairness to women:
{There is a share for men, in what was left by their parents or relatives, as well as a share for women, in what was left by their parents or relatives, a legislated share.}
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are but a few examples of the honor and the rights that Islaam granted women, so how can people who claim to be Muslim say, whether they are men or women, how can they say that Islaam oppresses women. This is a form of disbelief…
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Muslim community, and to Allaah belongs all praise, is a unified community, a clean community, a purified community. It does not allow such statements to infiltrate it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do not these ignorant people see the state of women in non-Muslim societies, and then compare that to the state of Muslim women in Muslim societies so as to know the pre-Islaamic era and refrain from repeating such claims.
